Barri Belnap, psychiatrist and member of the Austen Riggs Center team (Massachusetts). Established in 1919, Riggs is known for its internationally-recognized tradition of providing intensive psychodynamic psychotherapy in a voluntary, open, and non-coercive community. Patients not helped in other settings can often benefit from deeper, more thorough psychodynamic evaluation and treatment. Riggs offers a continuum of inpatient and residential programs and services within a core treatment framework that remains consistent throughout the patient’s stay.

David L Downing, PsyD (Indianapolis, United States), is a graduate in Clinical Psychology from the Wright State University School of Professional Psychology in Dayton, Ohio, 1985. He received his certificate in psychoanalysis from the Center for Psychoanalytic Study, in Chicago, in 1994. He is the current President of Section V (Psychologist-Psychoanalyst Clinicians), Division 39 (Psychoanalysis), of the American Psychological Association. He is the Past-President and current Treasurer of the Chicago Open Chapter for the Study of Psychoanalysis (Section IV, Local Chapters, Division of Psychoanalysis (39), American Psychological Association). He is Past-President of Section IV, Local Chapters of Division 39, and is currently the Section IV Representative to the Board of Directors of Division 39.

Brian Koehler, psychiatrist and president of the International Society for the Psychological Treatments of the Schizophrenias and Other Psychoses (ISPS) team. ISPS’ objectives are to promote the appropriate use of psychotherapy and psychological treatments for persons with schizophrenias and other psychoses; to promote the integration of psychological treatments in treatment plans and comprehensive treatment for all persons with schizophrenias and other psychoses; to promote the appropriate use of psychological understanding and psychotherapeutic approaches in all phases of the disorders including both early in the onset and in longer lasting disorders; to promote research into individual, family, group psychological therapies, preventive measures and other psychosocial programmes for those with psychotic disorders; to support treatments that include individual, family, group and network approaches and treatment methods that are derived from psychoanalysis, cognitive-behavioural, systemic and psycho-educational approaches.

Ann-Louise Silver, M.D., is on the medical staff of Chestnut Lodge in Rockville, Maryland. In addition to teaching and writing about psychodynamic psychotherapy, she has edited Psychoanalysis and Psychosis (International Universities Press, 1989), illness in the Analyst (IUP, in press), and Psychoanalysis and the Severely Ill (Guilford Press, in press).

Charles Turk, psychiatrist and psychoanalyst. He is coordinator of the Psychoanalytical Circle of the Freudian School of Quebec in Chicago. He has been interested in the psychoanalytic treatment of psychosis and other severe psychological problems for thirty years and is working to develop a Center on the model of the 388 in Chicago. He has been the medical director of a Day-hospital in Chicago. He was a recipient of the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill’s Exemplary Psychiatrist Award and of the International Federation for Psychoanalytic Education’s (IFPE) Distinguished Psychoanalytic Educators Award for outstanding contributions to psychoanalytic education.

Researchers at the Medical School (Harvard University) and the Nathan Kline Center (Columbia University). For their research on the redefinition of the concept of social reintegration, the research team received money from the NIMH (National Institute of Mental Health). The NIMH is one of the the 27th departments of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the main research agency of biomedical and behavioural research of the American federal gouvernment. The NIMH’s mandate is to alleviate the burden of mental health and behavioural problems by committing to the advancement of research of the brain, human behaviour and psychology. The principal investigator of the research team is Norma C. Ware, Ph. D., also researcher at Harvard University. The investigator of the research team is Toni Tugenberg, M. E.d. LICSW, and among co-investigators: Kim Hopper, medical anthropologist and researcher at the Nathan Kline Institute for Psychiatric Research, and Barbara Dickey, Ph. D. Harvard Medical School.

France

Jean-Marc Antoine, president of the Association pour l’Étude et la promotion des structures intermédiaires (ASEPSI). He is also member of La Fédération nationale des associations de réinsertion sociale and director of the Association Aurore in Paris.

Alain Gibeault, philosophe et psychologue et psychanalyste. Il est membre titulaire de la Société Psychanalytique de Paris et Directeur du Centre de Psychanalyse et de Psychothérapie Evelyne et Jean Kestemberg (Association de Santé mentale du XIIIème arrondissement de Paris). Il a joué un rôle important sur la scène internationale en particulier comme ancien président de la Fédération Européenne de Psychanalyse (1995-1999) et ancien secrétaire général de l'Association Psychanalytique Internationale (API) (2001-2003). Il a publié de nombreux travaux sur les solutions et mécanismes psychiques en particulier dans le fonctionnement des patients psychotiques, sur la théorie et la technique du psychodrame individuel ainsi que sur la représentation graphique dans la préhistoire.

Anne-Marie Kaufmant, médecin psychiatre, adjointe au service dirigé par le Dr Yves Kaufmant. Il y a 25 ans, avec le Dr. Kaufmant, elle a créé le groupe de recherche GRAPPAF (Groupe de Recherche et d'Applications des Concepts Psychanalytiques à la psychiatrie en Afrique Francophone) et elle a participé au séjour thérapeutique en 2005 au Burkina-Faso que retrace le film "De l'autre côté".

Yves Kaufmant, psychiatre chef de service, psychanalyste membre de l'E.C.F, expert judiciaire, chargé de cours à l'Université Paris VIII, et accompagnant depuis 32 ans des psychotiques.

Jacinthe Baribeau, Ph. D., neuropsychologist. Since 1978, Dr. Baribeau has been dedicated to research on the cognitive and emotional impairment of individuals suffering from mental problems. Since 1984, she has also been developing evaluation of treatment and psychotherapies for depression, anxiety, compulsions and mania, psychosis (schizophrenia) and neuropsychological impairment (cerebral lesions and head traumas). Dr. Baribeau has been a titular professor since 1994. She is presently a professor and director for the LANNH (Laboratoire de Neuropsychologie et de Neurophysiologie humaine) at Laval University. She is also a clinical psychologist and member of the Ordre des Psychologues du Québec.

Benoît Bélanger est clinicien analyste et psychologue, intervenant clinique au Centre psychanalytique de traitement pour jeunes adultes psychotiques, le “388”, membre du Gifric, ancien directeur de l’École freudienne du Québec (ÉFQ) et membre du Conseil d’éthique de l’ÉFQ.

Andrée Cardinal, psychiatre et psychothérapeute au CHAUQ, Pa-villon Enfant-Jésus. Elle y exerce la psychiatrie générale et est su-perviseur clinique de résidents en psychiatrie. Elle est professeur de clinique au département de psychiatrie de l'Université Laval. Depuis plusieurs années, avec le Dr Danielle Bergeron, elle donne le cours d'introduction aux concepts psychanalytiques aux résidents de première année de psychiatrie. Elle est membre du Gifric.

Richard Carrier est anthropologue de formation. Il est intervenant clinique au Centre psychanalytique de traitement pour jeunes adultes psychotiques, le “388”.

Ellen Corin, Ph. D. est psychanalyste, chercheur et professeur agrégé aux départements de psychiatrie et d'anthropologie de l'Université McGill. Une grande partie de sa recherche actuelle s'étend au-delà des frontières canadiennes. Elle a participé à une série de recherches menée d'abord en Abitibi, au Québec, pour ensuite se poursuivre en Afrique, en Amérique Latine et en Indes, et dont le but était de mettre sur pied et de développer des services en santé mentale qui soient culturellement et socialement appropriés.

Odette Gagnon, M.Ps. Elle est intervenante clinique au Centre psychanalytique de traitement pour jeunes adultes psychotiques, le “388”.

Marie-Claire LeRoy est clinicienne analytaste et psychiatre au Centre psychanalytique de traitement pour jeunes adultes psychotiques, le “388”. Elle est aussi directeur de l’École freudienne du Québec.

Nathalie Jean, B.A. Elle est infirmière de formation et intervenante clinique au Centre psychanalytique de traitement pour jeunes adultes psychotiques, le “388”, membre du Gifric et membre de l’École freudienne du Québec.

Yves Lecomte, Ph.D. (psychology). He is a professor at Télé-université. He was the founder and has been the director - for 25 years - of the Journal Santé mentale au Québec - a reference for mental health professionals in Quebec. He was also founder of the psychoanalytic journal, Filigrane. He has trained and supervised numerous clinical professionals and has contributed to the development of clinical research on mental health.
